Top 10 for Matteo Cairoli in the GT World Challenge at Jeddah

Jeddah hosted the inaugural Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS – Endurance Cup event, marking the conclusion of the 2024 season. Matteo Cairoli participated alongside Andrea Caldarelli and the new addition, Loris Spinelli, in the #63 Iron Lynx Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO 2.

The event format included three 15-minute qualifying sessions, followed by a six-hour race. The Como-born driver took the wheel for the third qualifying session, securing a 1:59.688 lap time which, combined with his teammates’ efforts, led Iron Lynx to be fifth on the grid.

Spinelli took the start, fighting for the lead and gaining a position. However, the #63 Lamborghini stayed in the rear due to Iron Lynx’s strategy of using safety car periods for early pit stops. Cairoli entered his first stint in 20th position with three and a half hours remaining. Displaying an excellent pace, he consistently lapped in the 2:01 range, climbing the order before handing over to Spinelli. Cairoli returned to the cockpit in 11th place one hour later. The alternative strategy propelled him to sixth, while a final safety car cancelled the gaps and gave the team the opportunity to make a last pit-stop without any problem. Despite a five-second penalty due to speeding infringement Caldarelli ended the race in seventh place.

Matteo Cairoli concluded the 2024 Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe – Endurance Cup season in tenth place with 27 points. Iron Lynx secured ninth in the team standings with 30 points.
