Matteo Cairoli faces the turning point of the season as the FIA WEC Championship heads this weekend to Bahrain for the fourth out of eight events of the 2019/2020 calendar.
After a bitter-sweet round at Shanghai early last month, when he set the LMGTe Am pole position before enduring a not lucky race to finish fifth, the Italian Porsche Young Professional driver now aims to end the year with a podium.
"I like the Sakhir circuit, although I raced here just one time", Cairoli said, "It will be difficult to manage the tires due to the high temperature and the very abrasive track. I hope to end the year in the best possible way."
As usual Cairoli will share the duties with Egidio Perfetti and David Heinemeier Hansson in a Team Project 1's Porsche.
Action in Bahrain starts today with the free practice. Qualifying are scheduled on Friday, while the 8-hour race gets underway on Saturday with light at 15pm.
