Matteo Cairoli took an utterly dominant first win of the GT World Challenge Europe season at the Nürburgring. The Italian racing driver, pairing with Christian Engelhart and Sven Müller in a Dinamic Motorsport's Porsche 911 Gt3 R, seized a light-to-flag magnificent victory in the second round of the Endurance Cup series, after setting the second quickest time in the Saturday's qualifying.
Starting from the front row, Engelhart survived a first lap crash to take the lead. After the first hour the German racer handed over the car to Müller, who built a 18-second advantage over the second before the pit-stop window opened under a Full Course Yellow. Cairoli drove in the third hour. The trio produced outstanging pace also in the second part of the 6-hour race and went on to claim a deserved result, despite four safety car periods. Cairoli crossed the finish line after 173 laps, having a margin of 14.849 seconds over the second placed Mercedes of Boguslavskiy/Fraga/Marciello.
"After a long time, I finally made my return to the first step of the podium", Cairoli said. "I am very happy of this victory. The team made a great job. After struggling in practice, the car was very fast and perfect. This first victory is a great way to start my preparation time for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I am very grateful to Dinamic Motorsport and to my team-mates. That it an extra motivation to perform well in the other races of the season".
