Matteo Cairoli is set for the sixth and final event of the European Le Mans Series season at the Circuit of Algarve, in Portugal. The Como-based driver will reunite with Christian Ried and Riccardo Pera in the LMGte class, where the trio will be fighting for a podium result.
With the title already assigned to the Luzich Racing's Ferrari, the Dempsey-Proton Racing #77 Porsche of Cairoli/Ried/Pera is currentry second on 75 points, seven more than the other Ferrari run by Kessel Racing Team and four crews still in contention for vice champion position.
After claiming the third place at the Le Castellet opener last April, Cairoli secured the pole position in Monza to take a brilliant victory on his home soil. Then Porsche Young Professional driver endured a couple of tough weekends at Barcelona and Silverstone, making his return to the podium in the Spa event, where he finished 2nd.
Action at Portimão commences tomorrow with the first session of free practice and the Bronze test. Free practice two and qualifying get underway on Saturday. The 4-hour race will start on Sunday at 12.30 local time.
