After a four-month break Matteo Cairoli made his track return on Sunday, in the third round of Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie. The Italian driver - who shared a Falken Motorsport’s Porsche 911 GT3 R car with Briton Peter Dumbreck completed a test race looking forward the 24 Hours Nürburgring scheduled for late September.
As a result of another car's oil leak during his flying lap, Cairoli and his team-mate qualified on 23rd over a total of 126 participants. Eventually the Falken Motorsport duo recovered well to finish on 14th position.
“This was a test race for us”, Cairoli explained. “We tried different Falken tires, although we still have more work to do. Moreover it was my first race with this team. I drove for a couple of hours. I am definitely very happy to have covered so many kilometers... I missed it a lot”.
A mere two weeks separate Cairoli from his next commitment at the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance opener scheduled for 25th/26th July.
