Porsche Young Professional driver Matteo Cairoli is ready to embark on the new FIA WEC season as the 2019-2020 edition starts this weekend at Silverstone, in England. The Northamptonshire venue hosts the first out of eight events of the calendar. On the Uk soil, the 23-year-old Italian racer will share the driving duties in the LMGTe Am class with Norwegian Egidio Perfetti and Dane David Heinemeier-Hansson, piloting a Team Project 1's Porsche.
At the same time, Cairoli will take part in the fourth of six European Le Mans Series rounds to reunite with German Christian Ried and country-fellow Riccardo Pera in a Dempsey-Proton Racing's 911 RSR car. After claiming a victory at Monza and the third place at the Paul Ricard circuit, Cairoli, Ried and Pera occupy the second place in the LMGTe standings, 10 points behind the leaders Lavergne/Nielsen/Pier Guidi.
"I am very thrilled to face a double commitment. It will be a very tough weekend, with two different teams, two different cars and engineers", commented Cairoli, "I am quite optimistic and I'm convinced we can catch a good results in both Championship."
The ELMS 4-Hours of Silverstone will start on Saturday at 14.30 pm local time after the qualifying. The FIA WEC 4-hour race is scheduled on Sunday at 12 pm.
