Matteo Cairoli claimed his second pole position of the 2019/2020 FIA WEC season after producing the best average time of the LMGTe Am, sharing the wheel of the Team Project 1 #56 Porsche 911 RSR car with team mate Egidio Perfetti. It ensured him, Perfetti and newcomer Laurents Hörr the top spot of the grid at the Lone Star Le Mans 6 Hours of COTA.
The 23-year-old Italian driver - who already was a polesitter in the 4 Hours of Shanghai - set the time of 2:01.340 to finish ahead of the two Aston Martins.
“I am very happy, although I made two slight mistakes in the last part of the track”, Cairoli said, “The car was perfect and I am pretty confident for the race. We hope for a bit of luck, looking for my first podium of the year”.
