Shanghai, 9 November, 2019 FIA WEC

Matteo Cairoli scored his first FIA WEC season's pole position at the Shanghai circuit. The Italian driver and his team-mate Egidio Perfetti, who share the #56 Team Project 1's Porsche car with David Heinemeier Hansson, claimed the best average time of the LMGTe Am category.

Cairoli took the best lap-time of 2:00.031 to secure the top spot of the grid for tomorrow's 4-hour race. After taking in the last two years the podium finish at the Chinese track, the Porsche Young Professional racer aim to produce another consistent result.

"I am very happy. The car showed great potential. Egidio did a great job, lapping only 1 second slower than me. I am confident we have a great opportunity to show well tomorrow. The level is very high. I aim at securing the victory, but a podium finish should be good too", Cairoli stated.

The 4 Hours race start is scheduled at 5 am CEST.
