Matteo Cairoli has secured today the second row in LMGTE AM for the 24 Hours of Le Mans scheduled this weekend. The Italian racing driver, sharing driving duties with Egidio Perfetti and Larry ten Voorde in a Team Project 1's Porsche, set the third quickest lap of 3:51.647 in the Hyperpole session to finish only 132 milliseconds behind the Dempsey-Proton Racing's twin car.
Cairoli, who races for the fourth time at the Circuit de La Sarthe, was again one of the front-runners in the category.
"Despite I did a little mistake, missing my third consecutive pole position at Le Mans, I am really happy of the car, team and my team-mates", Cairoli said. "Starting from the second row is quite good. We hope to have a clear race without contacts, penalties and any sort of problems."
The 88th edition of 24 Hour of Le Mans will start tomorrow at 2:30 pm CEST to finish on Sunday afternoon.
