Matteo Cairoli is set for one of the greatest races of the year as the 24 Hours of Spa will be held this coming Saturday and Sunday. The Italian racing driver will share driving duties in a Dinamic Motorsport’s Porsche car with regular team-mates Christian Engelhart and Sven Müller.
More than one month after the triumphal round of the Nürburgring, when Como-based racer ended a dominant weekend claiming his first victory of the season in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, the SRO Motorsports’ series gets back to action. Cairoli, Engelhart and Müller are currently placed third in the Drivers’ standings, just six points behind the lead.
“I am very thrilled to be here. This is my first 24 Hours of Spa. The team is in a very high spirits and the car is perfect”, Cairoli explained. “We’ll try to score maximum silverware as the race will assign points after six, twelve and 24 hours. My first aim is to get the Super Pole.”
The weekend action gets underway today, Thursday, 22nd October, with the free practice session, pre-qualifying and qualifying that will establish the 20 Super Pole contenders while also setting grid positions 21 through 56. A night practice will be held today too. Tomorrow the Super Pole session will start at 18:20. The 24 Hours of Spa will start on Saturday at 15:30.
